2. What this Policy covers
This Policy explains how Lovv handles information when you visit our website, create or use an account, receive introductions, use Explore, communicate with other users, contact us, or interact with our safety and verification features. It is written for users in the European Union and EEA and in the United States.
3. Information we collect
Account and verification information
This may include your name, date of birth, email address, phone number, login credentials, verification status, and information needed to confirm that one account belongs to one real adult. Where identity verification uses a government ID, passport, selfie or liveness check, the app will explain what is processed by Lovv and by the verification provider before collection.
Profile and preference information
This may include photos, biography, gender, pronouns, relationship goals, the people you wish to meet, age and distance preferences, interests, values, lifestyle information and answers you choose to provide. Some choices may reveal sensitive information such as sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity or health-related information.
Location, activity and communications
With device permission, we may process precise or approximate location to show relevant introductions nearby. We also process likes, passes, matches, feedback, searches, messages, reports, blocks and other actions needed to provide and protect the service.
Device, website and support information
We may collect IP address, device and browser type, operating system, app version, language, crash logs, security events, cookie choices and basic usage information. If you contact us, we process your contact details and the content of your request.
4. Why we use information
- To create and authenticate your account and verify eligibility.
- To build your profile and provide introductions, matching and discovery features.
- To operate messaging, feedback, blocking, reporting and support.
- To detect fake accounts, scams, harassment, abuse and security incidents.
- To moderate content and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
- To maintain, troubleshoot and improve the Platform.
- To comply with law, respond to valid legal requests and protect users or the public.
- To send service messages and, only where permitted, optional communications you can disable.
5. Legal bases in Europe
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performance of our contract to provide the service; legitimate interests in safety, fraud prevention, support and responsible improvement; consent for optional permissions, communications and special-category data where required; and legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
6. Sensitive information
A dating service may need information about gender, sexual orientation and relationship preferences to provide relevant introductions. In Europe, we request explicit consent where special-category data is processed. In the United States, we treat this information, precise location, identity documents and private communications as sensitive personal information and use it only for the disclosed service and safety purposes.
7. Recommendations and automated processing
Lovv uses profile information, relationship intentions, preferences, location and activity to rank or recommend potential introductions. Feedback about an introduction may be used to improve later suggestions. Recommendations assist discovery; they do not guarantee compatibility and do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
8. When information is shared
Profile information you choose to publish is shown to other eligible users according to the app’s settings. We may also share necessary information with contracted providers for hosting, communications, identity verification, security, moderation, analytics and customer support; with professional advisers; and with authorities or other parties when legally required or necessary to protect safety and rights.
Essential providers include Hetzner Online GmbH for hosting, cloud storage and technical infrastructure; Google LLC and Google Ireland Limited for authentication and analytics; and Mailgun Technologies, Inc. for service emails and communications. Identity-verification providers may process identification documents, selfies or liveness information when that feature is used; the relevant provider and processing details are shown before verification. Providers may use information only under our instructions and contractual safeguards.
Lovv does not sell personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising and does not use relationship data to target advertising.
9. International transfers
Because Lovv serves Europe and the United States, information may be processed across borders. European data is hosted in Europe where practicable. Transfers involving Google or Mailgun may rely on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the recipient participates, or otherwise on European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses and appropriate supplementary safeguards. You may request information about these safeguards at dpo@lovv.app.
10. Retention and deletion
We retain account, profile and service information while your account is active. After closure, information may be blocked and retained for applicable legal claims and obligations for up to five years. Security and traffic logs may be retained for up to one year, support enquiries for up to 24 months, and consent records for as long as needed to demonstrate compliance. Identity-verification data is retained only for the period communicated during verification and as needed for fraud prevention or legal obligations. Anonymous information that cannot reasonably identify anyone may be retained indefinitely for research and service improvement.
11. Your rights in Europe
Subject to the GDPR and applicable local law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection; withdraw consent; and ask not to be subject to a solely automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects. You may complain to the supervisory authority where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred.
12. Your rights in the United States
Depending on your state and whether its law applies to Lovv, you may have rights to know or access, correct, delete and obtain a portable copy of personal information; opt out of sale, targeted advertising or certain profiling; limit certain uses of sensitive information; and appeal a refused request. Lovv does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Submit a request or appeal through the privacy controls available in the app or by writing to dpo@lovv.app. We may verify your identity before responding. An authorised agent may submit a request where permitted by law.
13. Security and safety
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of dating, identity and location information. No system is completely secure, so users should also protect their credentials and report suspected account misuse promptly.
14. Adults only
Lovv is for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts. If we learn that a minor has provided personal information, we will disable the account and take appropriate deletion steps.
15. Cookies, changes and contact
The Lovv website does not currently use non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies. If this changes, we will provide the required information and consent controls before using them. We will publish material changes to this Policy and provide additional notice where required. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to dpo@lovv.app.
